Longlegs was released in theaters on 7/12/24
Longlegs lives up to the hype. Expertly acted, creepy, and above all, unsettling, this horror gem makes excellent use of eerie lighting and haunting imagery. It is extremely intense, and there are no dull moments. Even the “slower” sections are ripe with tension and worldbuilding of a mystery that deals with multiple themes, some just the right amount of complex.
One of 2024's Best and Scariest
There are heavy Silence of the Lambs vibes throughout, but writer/director Oz Perkins (son of Anthony Perkins, the star of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho) manages to spin a web very much of his own making. It is unique, which is impressive given how oversaturated the genre is at present. The First Omen is this reviewer’s favorite horror film of 2024 so far, but this deep dive into hell is a close runner up. That fact alone makes "longlegging" it to the theater a no-brainer.
